Eagles to Celebrate Centennial June 4-6, 2004
Morris Aerie #620 of the Fraternal Order of Eagles is turning
100 years old this year. To celebrate, the Morris Eagles will
be hosting a centennial celebration June 4-6, 2004 and inviting
the entire community to mark one hundred years serving the
Morris area.
The evening
of Thursday, June 3rd kicks off the centennial weekend with
an invitation-only supper for the aerie's and auxiliary's
past presidents, in addition to special guests from the district,
state and grand aeries.
On Friday,
June 4th, the Morris Eagles holds its annual golf tournament
at Pomme de Terre Golf Course. Also on Friday, Jimmy Jensen
will play classic favorites during the Old Time Music Dance
at the Eagles from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Afterwards, you can sing
along with Tresie's Karaoke from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
On Saturday
June 5th, The Eagles is hosting a softball tournament at Eagles
Park from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A centennial supper will
be served at the Eagles from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. for all members
of Morris Aerie. At 9:00 p.m., The Eagles will host a street
dance in the parking lot featuring 'The Front Fenders,' a
great band from Fargo, ND singing your favorites from the
60s, 70s, 80s and 90s.
To cap
off the weekend, The Morris Aerie is hosting a free Community
Picnic at Eastside Park on Sunday June 6th beginning at noon.
Hamburgers, brats and hot dogs along with chips and ice cream
sundaes will be served until everything is gone. Make sure
to come early!
Instituted
in 1904, the Morris Eagles Aerie #620's mission is to help
the community through volunteerism, charitable contributions
and social events. The majority of contributions from the
Morris Aerie go toward our community's children and elderly
programs, including Community Education, Morris Senior Citizens
Center, and the Morris Area School District.
The Morris
Eagles also benefit the area's public safety departments such
as the Morris Fire Department, Morris Police Department and
Stevens County Sheriff's Office.
